Electronics Implements StealthWatch™ to Assure
Network Integrity Across Distributed Enterprise ATLANTA, Ga., October 11, 2004 Lancope, Inc., the leading provider of behavior-based network integrity solutions, today announced that Alpine Electronics of America, Inc., the industry-leading manufacturer of high performance mobile electronics, has deployed StealthWatch to protect the core of its network, which supports nine geographically distributed locations in North America. As a result, the deployment of StealthWatch significantly benefits Alpine Electronics’ distributed network of domestic and international research affiliates.” Alpine Electronics initially looked to StealthWatch as an effective intrusion detection system (IDS) to protect the network and confidential data given the company’s recent direct-to-consumer eCommerce initiative. After comparing several IDS technologies, Alpine Electronics found that StealthWatch considerably enhanced its network architecture, which includes host-based IDS, AV and SPAM solutions. Guilea believed that a single appliance that utilizes a behavior-based approach was far easier to manage than a signature-based solution delivered on a combination of software and hardware. Upon installation, StealthWatch immediately identified several infected hosts on Alpine Electronics’ network. By monitoring network flows to detect anomalies such as zero-day attacks, misconfigured devices or unauthorized applications, StealthWatch enabled Alpine Electronics’ network engineering team to discover and mitigate threats from infected computers at its European affiliates which were attempting to communicate and infect its U.S.-based research affiliates. Guilea clarified, “For example, if Alpine Electronics in North America was attacked by a virus in Japan, StealthWatch identifies the infected workstation and enables the network team to contain the incident through automatic or administrator-authorized traffic blocking.
